The Love Affair

You've searched high and low. You've tried some in person, though the fit was sometimes awkward. You did that online thing... only to be disappointed when it doesn't work out. You had that one in mind. You pictured just how it would be. It gave you a feeling of confidence, of security, of ... love? You just need to find the one that completes the picture. Why wouldn't you want to see as many as possible before deciding? If it's right, this could last for years, but let's face it, the hunt is half the fun!
Then it happens. Maybe you're on your lunch break, just browsing the aisles and you seem them. What is it about leather that does this to you? Your pulse quickens, and your face flushes with excitement. Could it be? You inwardly squeal with delight! Yes, yes, yes! Finally, the perfect little black pump. The feminine silhouette with just the right amount of hard-edge details. The side dips just the way you imagined and the 3" heel gives your *ahem* legs that amazing lift. They ride the line between professional and sexy. You can wear them with the suit, the LBD and the jeans you just bought for the price we won't talk about. Oh yes, this relationship has legs.. and they look hot in these heels!
As women we start early trying on our mother's shoes. Then, as we get older, we learn the art of completing an outfit with the right pair. We might even work backwards- knowing we need to wear that pair and the clothes will have to come together around them. Proms, formals, weddings, job interviews, play-dates in the park, girl's night out, repainting the kitchen.. you must find the right ones.
For those of us stoking the fire of our love affair with shoes, it doesn't matter what the event (or non-event) is. We know that those shoes can make or break the day. The put the pep in our step and the confidence in our walk, literally. Old favorites are one thing, but that brand new, divine pair of perfect heels...they set our heart on fire all over again!

The Junior League of Gwinnett & North Fulton Counties (JLGNF) is hosting its fifth annual High Heels and High Times fashion show, one of our biggest annual fundraisers. The event will be held at the Hilton Atlanta Northeast on March 10th, 2013 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and is open to the public. Each year we feature a shoe fashion show, a marketplace of shoes and accessories and delicious food with complimentary wine tastings generously supplied by local vendors. This year, we are expecting over 250 attendees.
